Back in the early 2000s, when I first saw the research from the scientists at University of California at Berkeley on the amazing benefits of the emotion of AWE, I literally teared up and felt a tug on my heart so strong that I could not ignore the pull. After years in corporate culture and leadership training arenas, working with organizations to build resilient and high performing cultures, the synapses snapped and the light went on about how companies could benefit by cultivating awe for their leaders and their teams. So much of what high performing teams need, is what AWE provides. Science is proving that cultivating the emotion of AWE reduces stress, helps us connect to ourselves and each other, expands our perception of time, makes us more altruistic, collaborative and reduces our self importance which allows new possibilities to emerge.
